An Old Fashioned, Friendly Church
If you are someone who isn’t sure if God exists, or doesn’t believe He exists, or just haven’t given it much thought, you aren’t alone. I am convinced that He does exist, and that the Bible is His revelation of Himself to us, but I also understand that just because I believe something doesn’t mean that everybody else will believe the same thing. I am not bothered by that because we were each created with the ability to choose and if you choose not to believe the same things as I do, I respect that.
But many people who write off God, Christianity and the Bible don’t really know enough about it to have made an informed decision. If you understand what the Bible says about our Creator and choose not to believe, then fair enough. But does it make sense to write it off as irrelevant or not true before you really understand what God is communicating to us through the Bible?
When asked why they don’t believe, many people say things like, “I just can’t believe in a God that would allow all the bad things that happen in this world.” After you understand what the Bible says about why God does allow bad things to happen you may still feel the same way, but does it make sense to write Him off before you fully understand what He is doing in this world?
The pamphlet you were given helps explain God’s plan for us, but sometimes that just leads to more questions. While I understand that I am not your Pastor, that is where I am here to help. If you have any questions about this pamphlet, I would be happy to talk you through my understanding of the “big picture” of what God’s plan for humanity is. Or, if you are simply going through a rough patch and are searching for answers, I will do my best to answer your questions based on what the Bible says.
A lot of people avoid going to church because they don’t know what to expect when they get there. It’s awkward and uncomfortable when you aren’t sure what to do, where to go, if it’s ok to dress casually, or are afraid that you will get asked to do something uncomfortable like read or pray out loud. I can assure you that you won’t be asked to do something uncomfortable.
My goal in reaching out to you is not to be an aggressive salesman for God and try and manipulate you to say yes to Him – spiritual matters are much too important and personal for that type of approach. My goal is simply to be there for you and your family if, and as, you have questions about Christianity and give you the information that you need to some day make an informed decision about what you are going to believe during this brief time on the earth. What you believe here and now will ultimately decide where you spend eternity.
My number is 816-838-6149 and my email is [email protected] if you ever want to reach out to me. Even if you aren’t interested in knowing more now, please hang on to this in case you want to reach out down the road.
Blessings,
Pastor Rick Lumm
